The German Ministry of Energy, Infrastructure and State Development Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a strategic partner in the field of regional transport policy matters for Amber Coast Logistics. It represents a regional political authority in the project. Being responsible for regional development and transport planning, the Ministry gives ACL the necessary back up on ministerial level, combined with the administrative competence, needed to improve transport flows between EU and Belarus, using the Amber Coast route via the Baltic Sea ports. In addition, the Ministry is shareholder of the major ports in Wismar, Rostock and Sassnitz. The Ministry will initiate strong support for the project on all administrative levels being involved for the relevant transport modes (road, rail, inland waterways). It will be involved in all work packages. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern lies in the north-east of the Federal Republic of Germany. The state or Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern borders on Poland in the east, on Brandenburg in the south and on Lower-Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein in the west. In the north the Baltic Sea forms a natural border almost 400 kilometres in length.
